WHAT TO EXPECT

Day 1 - DONOSTIA - SAN SEBASTIÁN

Arrive in Donostia – San Sebastián, also known as the Pearl of the Cantabrian Sea, is one of the cities that best combines gastronomy, culture and beauty, combining all in an unrivalled natural environment that also welcomes the traveller as one more in the city.

Guided tour through the Old Town and pintxos based dinner, done in a modern way that still allows you to live like locals. Design your own route, ask for our suggested pintxos and use PintxoBox tokens to pay for the pintxos and drinks, and feel safer. Easy and simple.

Transfer to hotel and accommodation.

 

Day 2 - “TXAKOLI DE GETARIA” – GETARIA & HONDARRIBIA

Breakfast in the hotel.

Transfer in an old but luxurious car to Hondarribia.

An antique car ride to Hondarribia and a tour of the medieval town, a walk through its streets is priceless, full of colour and history, it is one of the pleasures that you cannot miss. Then we will visit one of the most emblematic Txakoli wineries of the area, Hiruzta.

At midmorning transfer to Getaria, best known as the birthplace of Juan Sebastián Elcano, it’s a traditional fishing village which is reflected in its cuisine. A beautiful village on Gipuzkoa’s coast with a great seafaring tradition, famous restaurants with grilled fish, beaches, a marina and spectacular scenery. Guided tour through the old town.

Visit to a very special winery in the area, where technology and tradition coexist to produce exquisite wines. Rezabal Winery tour and lunch with tasting of typical products and txakoli.

Free afternoon in Getaria.

Day 3 - “TXAKOLI DE BIZKAIA” – GERNIKA

Breakfast in the hotel.

We will go to Gernika, where we will visit the Parliament Building and the Tree of Gernika. A tree that comes from a deeply rooted Basque tradition, they used to gather under a tree, usually an oak, to decide on the interests of the community, a fairly widespread tradition in medieval Europe.

Then we will discover another Txakoli designation of origin, Bizkaiko Txakolina, in a winery in the heart of the Biosphere Reserve of Urdaibai. An experience that will help you to get to know the soul of our products in Bodega Itsasmendi, a place permanently evolving and full of diversity. Tasting of 3 txakolis and 2 pintxos.

Lunch in a typical restaurant in the area and in the afternoon, transfer to Gaztelugatxe, one of those places that exude special magic and you know you will never forget.

Transfer to Donostia and free time for dinner.

 

Day 4 - “TXAKOLI DE ARABA” – OKONDO

Breakfast in the hotel.

Transfer to Araba, the province where we will meet the third txakoli designation of origin, Arabako Txakolina. Exactly in Okondo, a nice and peaceful village. Visit to Beldui Txakolina winery, where production of the txakoli is done with the most advanced processes (possibility of dramatized and special tours for families). Lunch included, we will enjoy a typical txakoli menu of the valley.

Transfer to Orduña and explore the villa. It has a great economic history in the Señorío de Bizkaia, which made it the only medieval city in the province. Nowadays, it's declared as a historical monument.

Transfer to Donostia and free time for dinner.

 

Day 5 - DONOSTIA - SAN SEBASTIÁN

Breakfast in the hotel.

In the morning, entrance to the La Perla Thalassotherapy, heir of the Belle Époque atmosphere. Queen Maria Cristina established the summer resort of the royal house in the city, as her greatest pleasure was swimming in the sea, combining the therapeutic effects, relaxation and wellness.

With a private tour guide, the schedule, duration and activities can be adjusted to meet your needs. Please, provide any special requests you have.

Please note that this tour is a culture and food tour. But, you will get a pair of local snacks as well as a walk through the old quarter of San Sebastian in order to learn about the Basque culture and gastronomy. Please note that you will not receive a full meal.
