WHAT TO EXPECT

Day 1 - LA RIOJA ALAVESA

Arrival in the Rioja region, dinner and accommodation.

 

Day 2 - LAGUARDIA - ELCIEGO

Breakfast at the hotel.

Guided tour of Laguardia, its history is written on its stones, which is waiting to be read by visitors. The subsoil of Laguardia is pierced by wineries or ‘caves’, dug under the houses and streets, about 6 feet deep.

We will visit the Eguren Ugarte winery, with over 2km of underground cellars, excavated mostly manually, it becomes a must for lovers of Rioja Alava wine or just for history buffs and lovers of sensory experiences. After the visit, we will have a tasting of 3 different wines and a tasty tapa. Lunch at the wine cellar with a typical menu with local products.

At the scheduled time in the afternoon, transfer to Elciego, we will get to know “the best representation of the innovative spirit of Marqués de Riscal and his world of sensations is undoubtedly the building designed by the Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry, who has created a work which, although full of shapes, is in perfect harmony with the landscape of the area.” Visit to the winery and tasting of two wines.

Return to hotel and free time.

 

Day 3 - BRIONES - HARO

Breakfast at the hotel.

In the morning, we will go to Briones, precisely to the Dynastía Vivanco winery that will surprise us with its own museum. During the morning we will be able to understand the wine from the vineyard to the palate through a tasting course.

Lunch at the winery. “Tradition, products of the land, creativity in the kitchen and sophistication at the table”

In the afternoon, visit to Haro, internationally known for its wines. The city of Haro has many tourist and cultural attractions that make it a favourite for many on their weekends and vacation destinations. It is this mix of culture, landscape and cuisine that make a visit to our city unforgettable.

To end the day we will visit a winery that is what perhaps best sums up the extraordinary coincidences between the mild climate and severity of the land.

Enjoy a wine tasting and local products.

Free time.

 

Day 4 - LABASTIDA

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to Labastida, a small town full of history from ancient times to the present. Labastida is a beautiful villa in the heart of Rioja Alavesa.

Guided tour of the Old Town, from the Romanesque to the Baroque with a visit to Fortaleza Temple of Christ and the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption.

Finish off the tour with an experience in a winery boutique where we will enjoy an unparalleled experience combining good wines with local products.

With a private tour guide, the schedule, duration and activities can be adjusted to meet your needs. Please, provide any special requests you have.

Please note that this tour is a culture and food tour. But, you will get a pair of local snacks in order to learn about the Basque culture and gastronomy. Please note that you will not receive a full meal.
