Located in the French region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, this area is made up of the three historic provinces of Labourd, Lower Navarre and Soule. The main language of the area is French, although one in four people speaks Basque, the official language of the Basque Country. A mixture of French and Basque essence is found on the border of the two.

In a calm bay where the village of Saint-Jean-de-Luz is located, known for having been a fishing village that in the 17th century went through a period of transition and went from being a fishing village to a base for Basque corsairs.
At the beginning of the first stage of the St. James' Way, at the Roncesvalles step and at the base of the Pyrenees, we arrive in San Juan Pie de Puerto, where you can enjoy a magnificent Atlantic landscape where you can stroll through the mountains. Another small village with a long tradition, through which the St. James' Way also passes through, is Ainhoa, whose only street is full of houses in the purest local style, characterised by exposed stones on the corners, wooden shutters and red or green colours. Sara, one of the most beautiful villages in France, located between the sea and the mountains, this village has always had privileged relations with both sides of the border. Last but not least, a village worth visiting and enjoying the view, Espelette, with its traditional houses and streets.
