The Basque Museum of Modern Art

Artium

3 thousand pieces to complete one of the most important collections of Basque and Spanish modern art.

Artium, a Basque Museum Center of Modern Art, is located at the limit of the Medieval Area of Vitoria - Gasteiz, very close to the Bibat museum complex. Unlike that one, which fuses the Archeology Museum and the Playing Cards Museum, Artium focuses on Modern Art, having a collection of around 3 thousand pieces, which complete one of the most distinguished collections of Basque and Spanish modern art.

An extraordinary permanent collection

Renowned artists of the twentieth century like Picasso, Miró, Saura, Oteiza or Chillida share space in Artium with more modern artists like Txomin Badiola or Javier Pérez, who signs the work “Un pedazo de cielo” [A piece of heaven], which dominates the main lobby. There is a total of nearly three thousand pieces of modern art with the most well-stocked Basque and Spanish modern art.

A dynamic proposal of time

Several cultural events are celebrated in Artium, like the educational workshops for all audiences. It also offers creative spaces for the artists who want to use them. Other activities, like the runway “Gasteiz On” also takes place in the Artium Museum’s facilities.
